How To Make A Necklace Out Of A Washer

Hello, hello! I've got another jewelry tutorial for you. I've noticed that most of my tutorials are for jewelry, which I find kind of funny since I really don't wear jewelry that often. I love it, but I never remember to put it on in the morning. Of course, making all this snazzy new jewelry might help me remember.

Anywho, this is a fun tutorial on how to make pendants from washers.

What you'll need:

A metal washer (I got a pack of 3 good-sized ones for 79 cents at Wal Mart.)

Decorative paper, or a photo printed on normal paper

Glue that will stick to metal

Clear nail polish or glaze

Pen

Scissors

A chain or string to put the pendant on

OK, first you'll need to find some paper to cover up your washer. I decided to use a photo I took of some ivy. I just printed it on normal computer paper.

Place your washer on top of your paper and trace.

Once you've finished tracing, cut it out.

Now, smooth a layer of glue on the rougher side of your washer.

Place your cut-out on top and press down. Let it dry completely.

Once it's dry, coat it with your clear nail polish or glaze. Let it dry.

Take the chain, string or ribbon you'll be using as your necklace and close or tie the ends together.

Take the middle of the loop's bottom and pull it through your washer's center hole.

Take the top of your necklace (where the clasps are) and pull it through the loop you just pulled through the washer. This will tie your chain/string into a knot around your washer.

Try it on and enjoy!

I really like how this came out. My chain was rather short, so mine turned out to be more of a choker. I plan on making more of these. I'll be sure to post them when I do!
Thanks for reading, guys! Feel free to post any comments, suggestions, requests or questions. I love hearing from you all.
Happy DIYing!
