How To Make A Simple Bracelet

I like jewelry, but I rarely remember to put it on. That’s why I like jewelry I can leave on all the time. One of the best types of leave-on jewelry is string bracelets. You may remember them as “friendship bracelets.” Well, I wear two every day. Several of my friends, seeing this, have asked me how I make them. I’ve put together a (hopefully) easy tutorial on how to make my favorite style (the one on the right).
What you’ll need:
Four, 25-inch long pieces of craft floss in various colors (you can find floss at any place that sells crafting supplies)
A flat surface like a book, binder, table or clipboard
A clip or tape to secure your floss to your flat surface
Scissors

First, pick out which colors you want to use. I’m running out of floss, so I only used two colors, but you can use four different colors. You’ll want to cut each piece of floss at about 25 inches in length. You may not need that much, but you don’t want your bracelet to be too small to fit around your wrist.

Next, tie the strings together about 1-1/2 inches from the top. Then, separate the floss strands in the order you want the colors to appear.

Grab the string farthest to the left (string 1) and loop it over and under the string to its right (string 2). Hold string 2 tightly as you tie string 1 snugly around it. Do this again so that you have a double knot.
Now take string 1 and tie double knots around each of the remaining strands, in order.
Next, you’ll take string 2, which is now the farthest to the left, and tie it in double knots around the other strings, left to right.

You’ll keep repeating this process by tying the left-most string in double knots around the strings to its right.
Your bracelet will start to look like this.

Keep going until it’s the length you want. Then, gather the strings and tie a knot to secure your bracelet. Trim the ends, leaving about 1-1/2 inches. Wrap the bracelet around your wrist and tie the ends.

You’re done! Enjoy!

You can use this technique to make anklets, chokers, zipper pulls, hair ties and more. You can use more floss strings to make the final product thicker. You can even use this technique with hemp rope, yarn or cloth strips to make embellishments for clothes, bags and furniture.
If you have any questions, please post them below. Thanks for reading!

Omg this is stupid and complicated -.-

Hey Danielle! It may seem complicated, but once you get the hang of it, you can tie the knots without even thinking about it. All I can say is practice and don't give up!
